About the artist
Study at the National Academy of Design in New York City with Rick Brosen (watercolor), Wolf Kahn (pastel), Sam Adoquei (drawing, oil and watercolor), David Dewey and John Goodrich (watercolor) was followed, when the Academy closed down, at the Art Students League in New York and at various professional workshops such as that of Pedro Cano in Italy.
Andrea Tonty paintings focus on plein air landscapes, still life and abstract compositions, merging traditional with experimental techniques in watercolor, oil and pastel mediums. Chosen localities include England, Scotland, Venice and Southern Italy (especially Naples and Sicily) as well as New York's Central Park and the North Shore of Long Island.
Andrea Tonty exhibitions include the National Academy of Design, (first prize for watercolor), Wet Paint Festivals, the United Nations (India/Pakistan show) and at Gallery 75 (New York City) until its closed during the COVID pandemic. Recognition includes prizes in England.
